SILCOM Composites
As a result of its research program, IMR has discovered and developed a new generation of electrically conductive materials. These materials are named SILCOM, which means Silver Composite materials.
In an ever-increasing worldwide demand by electronic manufacturers for lower cost silver conductive products, IMR’s Silcom materials offer major benefits.
- Silcom materials have a silver-like shiny visual appearance similar to 100% pure silver whether in bar form, powder or flake particles.
- Silcom materials can generally offer up to a 50 to 80% cost savings/troy ounce when compared to the current market pricing of 100% pure silver products.
- Silcom materials also exhibit an increased resistance to silver migration and developing silver tarnish.
- Silcom materials can be manufactured in a wide variety of physical forms, i.e., bar, rod, strip, powders, flake and nano-particles.
- Silcom products and materials are designed to be used in applications that do not require processing temperatures above 250°C.
- In some specialized applications, special Silcom variations can be used up to 300°C.
- Silcom materials can exhibit good oxidation resistant properties when used within the temperature processing specifications.
- Silcom materials can generally offer up to 90% the conductivity of pure silver.
